Last time we covered some of the most obvious, like the Eiffel Tower and the Statue of Liberty. But there are so many countries, and even more landmarks…

So here are 50 more for you to recognize. Are you ready for another trip around the world?

Amazing Black and White Photography

If you’ve been following Smashing Magazine for a while, you know that almost all posts from the Monday Inspiration series are pretty colorful and eye-catching. This post is an exception. Compared to colorful designs where catchy colors help the design to stand out, in black-and-white designs the ability to stand out depends only on its ability to communicate rather than on its appealing visual presentation.

Indeed, beautiful black and white photography doesn’t attract with its play of colors. Here close attention to composition, lighting, perspective and the context it is shot in are important. Hence, before considering the photos presented below please prepare some patience and time. This post presents some truly excellent examples of beautiful black-and-white photography. Just enjoy these photographs below.

In her legendary photos Toni Frissell impresses with a strong trend toward surrealism or realism. The photo presented below, although in black and white, is both extremely sharp and clear. To achieve such level of clarity in black and white is extremely hard.

Beauty Motion Blur Photographs

Photos taken with a camera do not represent a single moment of time. Due to technological constraints these shots stand for some scene over a brief period of time. This time frame depends on the camera’s shutter speed. In motion blur, any object moving with respect to the camera will look blurred or smeared along the direction of relative motion.

Motion blur is frequently used to show a sense of speed. You can achieve this effect in a usual scene using slow shutter speeds. You may want to take a look at resources provided in the end of the article — they show how one can add the motion blur effect in photos. Let we see these photographs below.

7 Adorable Newly Hatched Birds to Melt Your Heart

It isn’t easy, taking a close up of a newly hatched bird.
Some baby birds come out of their egg and are independent, like chicks, but others stay in the nest and have to be fed by both parents till they get stronger, grow feathers and fly out. The parents fly in and out of the nest constantly, feeding the young birds out of their crop.

Most young birds aren’t as pretty or colorful as their parents. They are helpless, not fully developed, the first few days even bald. But as you can see in the following photos, they all melt our hearts. Well, most of them, anyway…

7 Pictures of Bruges

Bruges is a beautiful city in Flanders, Belgium, known for its canals and its lace. The historic center of Bruges is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

One of its many medieval buildings, the Church of Our Lady, is one of the world’s highest brick towers. The sculpture Madonna and Child, which can be seen in the church, is believed to be Michelangelo’s only sculpture to have left Italy within his lifetime.

Some of the other amazing tourist attractions are the belfry, the swans at the Love Lake and the beguinage. A beguinage is a collection of small buildings used by Beguines. These were various lay sisterhoods of the Roman Catholic Church, founded in the 13th century in the Low Countries, comprising religious women who sought to serve God without retiring from the world.

Along with a few other canal-based northern cities, such as Amsterdam, Bruges is sometimes referred to as “The Venice of the North”.
